WHO WE ARE – OUR GROUP FOUNDER

Shri. G D Naidu, a successful industrialist and a keen educationalist hailing from Coimbatore, South India, had an immense interest in imparting practical education to young students.

In 1945, he started a college and a polytechnic by name Sir Arthur Hope College of Technology and Sir Arthur Hope Polytechnic, which he later donated to the Government. They are currently known as “The Government College of Technology” and “Government Polytechnic”.

In 1972, he started the G D Naidu Charitable Trust with the sole aim of offering short term vocational courses to the students who have passed or failed SSLC. The courses were practical-oriented and covered various fields such as Radio & Television Technology, Automobile Service & Maintenance Technology, Draughtsman Training, Skilled Mechanical Craftsman Course etc.

Later in the year 2002, the trust started another institution, Gedee Technical Training Institute, in collaboration with the German Chamber of Commerce to offer Diploma courses in par with the German Dual System of Training. The students undergo similar training as that of the world famous German Dual Vocational Training in fields such as Tool Making, Mechatronics etc.

ESSLINGEN – COIMBATORE TWINNING

The friendship between the G D Naidu family and the Stoll family of Esslingen, Germany culminated in a city friendship between Esslingen am Neckar and Coimbatore. The official signing of the twinning partnership took place in 2016. Since then, there have been exchanges of ideas in terms of Water Management, Education, Traffic Management, etc. Schools of both the cities have tied up for a school exchange, which is happening on a regular basis.

The aim is to cultivate close personal connections and contacts between the citizens, organisations and city administrations and to serve as a basis for improving relations between Esslingen am Neckar and Coimbatore.

Within the framework of the strategic partnership and the international agreements concluded between India and Germany, all delegations, institutions and organisations of our cities are called upon to do all in their power to further this partnership. lt is our goal to deepen understanding and friendship between our peoples, to strengthen respect for different ways of life and in that way to contribute towards a peaceful co-existence in an increasingly globalised world.
